Construction is now underway in Newark on a new HOPE House which will become the home for four individuals with autism.
The home is being supported by the North Ward Center, a nonprofit community development organization that assists those who have autism. There will be two staff members on site who will help the individuals living in the home 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with their transportation and daily needs.
Flyer printing can be used make residents with special needs aware of such facilities and the services they provide.
The vision for HOPE House is to facilitate the transition of residents of Newark with special needs to adulthood. Michele Adubato, CEO of North Ward Center, said that there are often limited options in underserved areas like Newark for children with special needs once they graduate from the public-school system.
She added that having such a home is important not only for her organization but for those who will be living there. This will be a place these adults can feel safe and secure, live in dignity, and still be included in the life of the community. One resident who has a child with autism commented that this home will provide the needed family atmosphere for its residents and will blend in well with the community.
The new HOPE House is expected to be completed in July 2020.
