Local inn back open after nine-month revamp

The Granville Inn, a favorite dining spot for people throughout the area, is about to reopen after being closed for nine months for renovations.

The renovations to the 91-year-old inn began in August, 2014, and will cost $9m in total. The restaurant is making changes to its menu as well.

Chad Lavely, the Granville's executive chef, said he has no doubt that both new visitors and regular customers will find dishes they like, noting that favorite dishes are on the menu, as well as new ones.

The inn opened May 8, but invited the media and a small number of supporters for a preview at which it served some of its new menu items, as well as taking the opportunity to train staff members.

The restaurant has rearranged its physical layout, swapping the casual dining area and the formal dining room. According to Charles Lagarce of Columbus Hospitality Management, restaurant workers had observed that most people ate in the casual area, and regarded the more formal room as a place to be saved for special occasions. Knowing this, Lagarce and Chef Lavely decided to expand the casual dining options.

Inn managers could work with a flyer printing company on a handout for distribution near the restaurant to bring in customers. They might consider including a coupon to celebrate the reopening.
