A band with a 30-year history of rocking their audiences is on the way to Newark.
Since they began to enjoy commercial success in the mid-1970s, Blue Öyster Cult has sold over 24 million records throughout the world. Their hits include “Godzilla,” “Burnin’ for You,” and “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper,” which has become an iconic rock song.
The band first formed on Long Island, New York, in 1967, under the name Soft White Underbelly. Their early sound has been described as psychedelic rock, but the band gradually moved into heavy metal rock, where they remain. The lineup of musicians has changed over the years as well, and the group has influenced other heavy metal groups such as Metallica, Alice in Chains, and Iron Maiden.
A review of a Blue Öyster Cult earlier this year reveals that even after decades of performing, the band can deliver the “consummate hard rock show,” according to an article on RushOnRock.com. The performance reminded audience members that there is far more to the group than their one huge hit single. The set they played—which of course included that song—was also melodic, humorous, and filled with a wide variety of songs that showed why the band remains relevant.
Blue Öyster Cult will appear at 8.00 pm on September 20 at the Midland Theatre. Tickets are on sale now. Poster printing is often used when events like this are scheduled, as they provide vital information.
