Construction begins on Newark campus

The Newark campus of the Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) and Ohio State University (OSU) will soon kickoff a building campaign planned to last for decades.

A Facilities Operations center comprising some 15,000 square feet will be built on the campus in November, at a cost of $3.65m. It will be the first part of a plan devised in 2012.

At that time, COTC and OSU, Newark campus, devised what they called a “campus framework plan”, which outlined goals and projects for upcoming decades. The facilities building is the first step, and allows the facilities department to leave Adena Hall, which is cramped, and move to its new quarters. This will free up Adena Hall for its renovation, which will add a health and wellness center as well as recreational space to the existing structure.

Money for the new facilities building is coming from both local and state funds. The design is a simple rectangle, but it has interesting architectural details, such as a slanted roof and a façade of glass, that will allow it to harmonize with the other campus buildings. In addition, the center will be the first building to be located on the outside of the campus loop, the road that encircles the extant buildings.

Campus officials could work with Stationery printers to make sure the new offices have proper Letterheads.
