White Plains to continue summer block party series

The Rock the Block festival series is continuing in downtown White Plains this summer.

The events include live music, outdoor dining, and games. Mamaroneck Avenue will be closed to cars during the evening. Several participating restaurants, including Brazen Fox, Hudson Grille, and Sundance Kitchen, will extend their outdoor seating into the street. Attendees are encouraged to make dinner reservations ahead of time. Restaurants often use banner printing services to mark their outdoor seating areas.

July’s concert will open with local indie, soul, and funk band Smooch, followed by Scott Tournet and the Spark. Tournet is a founding member of Grace Potter and the Nocturnals and has performed with such artists as The Allman Brothers and Willie Nelson. August's performance will feature OTM, which includes a local percussionist, an Irish singer, and a 1990s R&B singer.

Yard games like ping pong and cornhole will also be available. The event is free to attend and appropriate for all ages. Attendees are encouraged to download the ParkWhitePlains app to find convenient parking more easily. Outside alcohol is prohibited. Attendees can bring their dogs to the concert area, but they should check with individual restaurants regarding their pet policies.

Rock the Block is taking place on the second Wednesday of the month throughout the summer, meaning the next two dates are July 10 and August 14 from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
