Ada Dyer to close out White Plains concert series
White Plains is wrapping up its summer concert series with a soul performance this August.
Rock the Block is a free outdoor concert series in downtown White Plains. The August performers will be Ada Dyer and Everyday People, a Sly and the Family Stone tribute band. Dyer is originally from Chicago and recorded with Norman Connors on his albums in the late 1970s. She has also recorded with U2 and Sting and toured with Lenny Kravitz, Chaka Khan, and most recently Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band.
The event is family-friendly and appropriate for all ages. In addition to the music, there will be games and other activities. These include a mini golf area. Mamaroneck Avenue will be closed to cars during the concert, so several restaurants in the area will expand their outdoor seating. These include Brazen Fox, Freebird, Hudson Grille, Lilly’s, and Sundance Kitchen. The organizers recommend making dinner reservations and downloading the ParkWhitePlains app to find convenient parking spaces. Attendees are welcome to bring dogs, but are warned that some restaurants may not allow them. Towns often use poster printing services to promote their local events.
The last Rock the Block concert of the year will take place on Wednesday, August 20 from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm on Mamaroneck Avenue. The rain date is the following Wednesday, August 27.
