White Plains to host Oktoberfest celebration

Downtown White Plains is bringing back its annual Oktoberfest this fall.

The festival will include live music, beer, seasonal food, and German-themed activities. Melina and the Oompahs will perform, and there will be games and competitions like stein holding and a hot dog toss. Food vendors will include Sundance Kitchen and Walter’s Hot Dog Truck.

This year, the event is expanding another block to add an Alpine Village for families with younger kids. This area will offer kids’ crafts, games, and performances. Families can play mini golf, and there will be a specific kid-friendly DJ. The Oktoberfest Alpine Village will be open from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Organizers often work with print shops to create signs for special areas at their events.

Anyone who plans to purchase beer or other alcohol also needs to buy a wristband. Wristbands are available online now for $12, or at the festival for $16. Attendees will need to show ID when buying or picking up their wristbands. Kids and anyone else not drinking will not need a wristband or ticket. Dogs are welcome, but the event is typically crowded, so owners should consider whether it is a good environment for their pets.

Downtown White Plains Oktoberfest will take place on Sunday, October 12 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Mamaroneck Avenue, rain or shine.
