ArtsWestchester’s Futures art exhibit will remain open in White Plains through January.
The exhibition challenged local artists to think about what the Hudson Valley region might look like in 100 years. This allowed them to explore ideas like sustainable development, land ownership throughout history and forming inclusive communities. ArtsWestchester hopes to give artists the opportunity to contribute to the conversation about how the region can and should develop in the future.
All of the works of art are large-scale installations set up in a 4800-square-foot gallery space. ArtsWestchester intends to create an immersive experience for attendees. Artists featured in the collection include Sheila Benedis, Mike Depasquale, Natalya Khorover, Eco Otitigbe and Jorge Otero-Pailos. The full list is available on the ArtsWestchester website. Artists often have Business Cards available for those interested in purchasing their work. Admission to the exhibition costs $5 per person, and tickets can be purchased at the door.
ArtsWestchester is the largest cultural nonprofit in the state. Its gallery space is located in a nine-story building that was constructed in 1929 as the first skyscraper in White Plains. The original lobby, which features 40-foot ceilings and Ancient Greek and Roman architectural influences, is now the main art gallery.
The exhibition is open now through January 25, Wednesdays through Sundays from noon to 5 pm at ArtsWestchester in White Plains.
