Port Washington residents can welcome summer with a Wildflower Walk hosted by the Sands Point Preserve Conservancy. This will be a guided walk, and guests are advised that it is tailored for adults.
For two hours, participants will be guided through the park by an expert. When attendees sign in, they are encouraged to pick up Brochures of information on wildlife and a map of the park to follow their guides visually. Local Print shops often help out in supplying such items.
The expert guides include Environmental Educator Hildur Pasdottir and David Jakim, the Port Washington Alliance Founder. There will also be guest naturalists who will bring their expertise into the field.
Participants are encouraged to bring their water, and to cover their legs and arms to avoid any discomfort from hanging branches or leaves.
The Wildflower Walk will take place at the Sands Point Preserve Conservancy on June 14 from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm. The walk is part of the Guided Nature Walk series hosted by the park, taking place every second Sunday of each month.
Tickets are available at the Gatehouse or welcome center located on the premise of the conservation. For members, tickets are $5 per person, while non-members pay $10 per person. Members can park free, while there will be a fee of $15 per car for non-members.
