Inspired by TV talent competitions, the show invites community members to show off their special skills in front of a live crowd. Entrants are invited to sing, dance, or do any other type of family-friendly on-stage performance. Performers are selected through online application, in-person auditions and recruitment in the local community. Shows will also feature return performers from recent years. A staple of the local community, Port’s Got Talent returned after an absence last year.
Funds raised will go towards continuing and expanding the Activities Center’s work, which provides programs for seniors and others in the local community such as art classes, exercise sessions, and hot lunches. Fundraising events like this often use methods like brochure printing and keynote speeches to explain the work the beneficiary organization provides to the community. The Center’s mission statement says:
“Our active, vibrant PW Adult Activities Center personifies the true spirit of community to all who visit, whether on an occasional or daily basis. We hope you visit often and know that you’re always welcome!”
The 2025 edition of Port’s Got Talent will take place on the evening of October 10 at the Jeanne Rimsky Theater in Port Washington. Tickets are available for purchase online.
