Art Walk to transform Port Washington

The Residents Forward organization will be bringing back its Art Walk event for a return engagement after a successful debut last year.

The event aims to turn the streets of downtown Port Washington into an open canvas for local artists. Michelle Shain, Diane Luger, and Lori Lee will be creating murals across walls, and all will be available to meet and greet in the process. These murals will depict themes like sunsets, “Remembering the Unforgettable,” and the history of Port Washington.

There will be live music, coordinated by Homebrew Music, and an Art Guild-curated Artist Trunk Show with 20 local visual artists showing off their work for display and purchase. Visitors can get into the spirit themselves with interactive art activities. The Student HEARTS Gallery will showcase art in a variety of young medium from throughout Port Washington.

The Port Washington Masons will also be showing off the automotive art with an antique car show hosted at the LIRR station. Auto enthusiasts can register their vintage, custom or restored car for display, with proceeds going towards Shriners Children’s Hospitals. Artists and vendors at art walks like this often use business card printing and custom works to make long-lasting connections with audiences.

The 2026 edition of Art Walk will take place along upper Main Street in Port Washington on September 19, with October 3 set aside as a potential rain date.
