A vote of 2,294 to 2,055 spelled victory for proponents of the Port Washington School District bond referendum on March 10.
The Port Washington School District has been approved for a $69,877,198 in capital project bond funds by community voters. Of that amount, around $50m is slated for new construction, major repairs, and renovations.
The construction, repair, and renovation budget will provide Carrie Palmer Weber Middle School and Paul D. Schreiber High School with auditorium renovations, increases in instructional space, and upgrades to the schools’ science labs, among other things. Additionally, it will be used to provide each elementary school in the district with new science labs.
On the school district’s website, The Board of Education and school administrations expressed gratitude to voters for their participation in passing the issue. School district officials are always gratified when their efforts to remind the public of an upcoming election and inform them of the benefits of a bond issue prove successful. This is especially true when the less expensive options, such as a banner printing or poster printing service, have been used.
Other renovations across the school district will include single-location central air conditioning, music room renovations, replacement of portable classrooms with permanent structures, general improvements to technology and security, and the creation of two multipurpose athletic fields.
