Port Washingtons author discussion program goes virtual

This May, the Friends of the Port Washington Library’s (FOL) 52nd Annual Richard D. Whittemore Book and Author Program will be held virtually for the first time.

The FOL Book and Author Program is the organization's only fundraising event of the year, which typically takes place as an in-person luncheon and forum featuring discussions with featured authors about their works. To protect against the spread of COVID-19, the organizers have decided to host the event as a virtual program on Zoom this year instead of the traditional luncheon.

The two featured authors this year are novelist Geraldine Brooks and biographer Blake Bailey. Brooks has written five novels, including the Pulitzer Prize-winning “March,” while Bailey is a renowned biographer whose newest book tells the story of novelist Philip Roth. The program moderator will be Susan Isaacs, a Port Washington local who has written 14 Books and serves on the Emeritus Board of the literary organization Poets & Writers.

The 52nd Annual Richard D. Whittemore Book and Author Program is scheduled for Friday, May 14, beginning at noon. Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased on the FOL’s website.

Brochure printing is often used for library-centered events like this, as some organizers may wish to create informative Brochures containing event details to hand out to the public.
