Spoon performer to visit Farmingdale library

Jim Cruise, otherwise known as the Spoon Man, will be coming to the Farmingdale Public Library in August to give a family-friendly performance.

Parents looking for activities to enjoy with their children can attend the Spoon Man’s upcoming live show. Cruise’s performance involves using two spoons alongside background music. The program will also include impersonations, audience participation, and a sing-a-long competition. Staff members at the library will become a ‘mountain band’ alongside Cruise, and educational messages will be blended into the show for children.

The Spoon Man is a musician, comedian, and keynote speaker with over 35 years of experience playing the spoons. Cruise has performed on America’s Got Talent and has written a book titled Spoon Boy. He offers several programs for libraries, including Catch the Rhythm of Reading and the Just Plain Fun Comedy Show. The Spoon Man also performs at schools to teach children important subjects such as drug prevention, bullying, and respecting other people.

The family show will be held on Wednesday, August 10th at 7:00 pm. Registration for the program will open to library patrons on July 27th. All participants must reside in UFSD #22 and use their child’s library card to register for the performance. Libraries that plan activities similar to this may promote their shows by using printing services to make Posters to hang on their bulletin boards.
