Farmingdale announces dates for summer concert series

The Music on Main concert series is returning to downtown Farmingdale this summer.

The series features four outdoor Thursday evening concerts. The lineup will be announced on the event website soon. During the performances, there will also be kids’ activities, and local restaurants will be open for outdoor dining. The concerts have drawn large crowds in prior years, so attendees are encouraged to contact restaurants directly to ask about reservations. Main Street’s retailers will also be open during the shows. Towns often use poster printing services to promote their special events.

The concerts are free to attend and will take place on Main Street between Prospect and South Front Streets. These roads will be closed from about 3 pm to 10 pm on concert days. Free parking will be available at the LIRR and Howitt School lots. Metered parking is also available in several locations downtown.

The Farmingdale Business Improvement District (BID) runs the series with support from sponsors and participating merchants. The BID started the concerts eight years ago as a way to increase foot traffic in Farmingdale’s “Culinary Quarter Mile” area and is pleased about how they have grown into a popular summer tradition.

The Farmingdale Music on Main concerts will be on Thursdays, July 9 and 23 and August 6 and 20, from 5 pm to 9 pm in downtown Farmingdale. The rain date for any performances that need to be cancelled is August 27.
