The Farmingdale Public Library has announced the kickoff of its annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest. The event is an opportunity for locals to draw on their creative skills by decorating a pumpkin to look like their favorite book or movie.
This is just one of many events and programs that the Farmingdale Public Library offers residents throughout the year. Brochures are available at the library that showcase a variety of programs and events for all ages. Available programs include Sunday Concerts, Exercise and Library Cinema events.
The Pumpkin Decorating event is one of the local favorites. Participants are not allowed to carve the pumpkins; they must only decorate it to resemble their choice of book or movie. Once decorated, the pumpkins can be dropped off at the library up until October 17.
The voting will be done by library staff and locals who visit the library between October 18 and 24. Those unable to visit the library to view the pumpkins may visit its Facebook page to vote.
First prize for adults will be awarded a gift card to nearby restaurant. In the kids’ and teens’ category, first price will receive a gift card to Charlottes on Main Street.
The Farmingdale Public Library is located at 116 Merritts Road, and the library staff is looking forward to this year’s creative submissions.
