Farmingdales holiday event season warms up

The weather outside may be getting frightful, but there are still plenty of delightful events to keep locals busy throughout the holiday season.

The Farmingdale event calendar is full of activities this month, such as the Tri Centennial Tree Lighting, which took place Tuesday, and the Third Annual Gingerbread and Chocolate House Competition this Saturday, December 5th.

The Tree Lighting ceremony, which will take place at the Gazebo at the Village Green, will start at 7:00 pm and include music from the local brass ensemble, and free hot chocolate and cookies. Banner printing has been donated by several local Print companies to help celebrate the event in style.

The Gingerbread and Chocolate House Competition will take place in Farmingdale Village, and will feature ‘Victorian Era’ edible designs from a number of local vendors and shops. Anyone interested is invited to enter a design, and prizes include cash, local Gift Certificates, and even a 32-inch TV.

Other December events include Stuff a Bagel’s 30th Anniversary, which will feature a week of special prices, as well as an anniversary ribbon cutting ceremony by the Chamber of Commerce on December 12, and the Annual Marine Corps Toys for Tots collection, which will set up shop at Village Hall with all toys going to help the area’s less fortunate.
