Farmingdale to host street race and charity buffet

Farmingdale will be organizing a competitive racing event and meal in September to benefit the Champions of Courage organization.

The Runner's Edge Main Street Mile is an activity where the community can race through Farmingdale for awards. Cash prizes will be given to the top runners in the open and masters categories. Those in first will receive $100, while second-place finishers earn $75. Male runners can get a special cash bonus of $250 by breaking four minutes for the mile. Female competitors can also earn $250 for breaking 4:35 for the mile.

After the running event, the organizers will be holding a special buffet to benefit the Champions of Courage organization. Money from the meal will help the group with its mission of building playrooms in children's hospitals throughout North America. A silent auction and raffle will occur during the buffet, and the SpiTunes will provide live music. Those who put together events like this can use flyer printing to increase public awareness of the activity.

The race will take place on Saturday, September 4 from 9:15 am to 10:30 am. A children's fun run will also occur before the competitive race from 8:30 am to 9:00 am. Those unable to attend the race may sign up for the virtual mile instead. The buffet will be held at Croxley's Ale House. Awards for the competition will be presented behind Farmingdale's firehouse.
