Farmingdale to host outdoor Shakespeare performance

South Shore Theatre Experience is presenting a free Shakespeare play in Farmingdale this summer.

Stephen Wangner is directing a performance of Henry IV Part I in Farmingdale’s gazebo. Henry IV is one of Shakespeare’s history plays, and the story centers on family relationships.

The play is free to attend. Seating is not provided, so attendees should bring a blanket or lawn chair. The performance will be rescheduled in case of rain.

South Shore Theatre Experience is also performing Henry IV Part I in several outdoor locations during August. Those who would prefer to see the play indoors can attend an August 24 showing at South Shore Theatre in Lindenhurst. The show is free, but attendees need to reserve their seats in advance. Local theaters often use flyer printing services to promote their productions.

South Shore Theatre Experience is a nonprofit that was started to offer theater workshops for children, which the founders considered to be in short supply in the region. The company performs both well-known Broadway shows and newer shows created by local writers. It is currently running a musical theater summer camp for students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

The outdoor performance of Henry IV Part I will take place on Wednesday, August 13 at 6:30 pm at the gazebo in Farmingdale. The rain date is the following Wednesday, August 20.
