The Chocolate Duck in Farmingdale will hold its 10th annual gingerbread and chocolate house competition in December.
The Long Island Gingerbread & Chocolate House Competition is a seasonal community challenge where bakers of all levels can showcase their skills. The theme of the event is Favorite Holiday Fairy Tales, and the submissions are allowed to use real or imaginary structures. The three divisions for the contest include professional bakers, adults, and children. Spectators can vote on their favorite gingerbread houses to determine the People’s Choice Award winner.
The Chocolate Duck is a family-owned business that is run by Harry and his daughter Christina. Many products are sold at the shop, such as chocolate gift baskets, birthday cakes, and cocoa burst bombs. People can purchase decorating tools from the company. Several classes are held at The Chocolate Duck that cover topics like cake decorating, baking cookies, and making chocolate houses. Children’s parties can also be held at the venue.
The competition will be taking place on Saturday, December 9th from noon to 4:00pm. There is no price to spectate the event, though guests can bring donations to the program to benefit Long Island Cares. The organization is looking for non-perishable food donations, gift cards, and Checks.
