Farmingdale middle school to host garden party
Farmingdale is hosting an outdoor food-tasting event this spring.
A Taste of Farmingdale Under the Stars will feature samples from local restaurants, live music, and giveaways. It will take place in Howitt Middle School’s garden, which includes a variety of native plants. Attendees are invited to walk around and enjoy the flowers and other plants, which are grown and maintained by a student club and other community volunteers. The organizers will also honor retired Professor Michael Veracka, who played a key role in designing and establishing the garden.
There will also be activities for adults and older kids, including games, temporary tattoos and face painting. The Howitt Steppers and musicians from Howitt Middle School will perform. Attendees can also enter raffle drawings. The PTA and local vendors have donated and collected the prizes. Businesses often include promotional products in raffle baskets.
Event tickets are available online now, costing $10 per adult and $5 per child over six. Children six and under can attend free of charge. The event is fully outdoors, so it will be rescheduled in the event of rain. The digital flyer includes a full list of participating restaurants.
A Taste of Farmingdale Under the Stars will take place on Thursday, May 1 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The rain date is the following day, Friday, May 2.
