The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) will organize a golfing event in Farmingdale to earn money for its scholarship programs.
The New York City chapter of the SHPE will be collaborating with Verizon SOMOS to create a golfing activity where businesses can help support local students by funding scholarships. The agenda of the fundraiser will include a BBQ lunch for all participants, dinner, and a prize ceremony. Guests can also mingle with other players at the venue’s open bar. Those who enjoy networking with other professionals during charitable occasions like this can bring Business Cards to the event.
The SHPE’s scholarship program was initially created in 2018 and was originally called the HSO-SHPE Scholarship Fund. Verizon SOMOS has partnered with the engineers’ society to make the program larger and benefit more students. Several businesses have helped support the scholarship in the past, including Turner Construction, Nemschick Silverman Architects, and Corbel Communications Industries. The cost for companies to sponsor this year’s golfing fundraiser will start at $250.
The golf outing will take place on Tuesday, August 16 from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. Tickets for single players can be bought for $400, while admission for teams of four golfers will cost $1,500. The event will be held on the Red Course at Bethpage State Park. Those interested in helping the SHPE’s scholarship fund can donate additional money while ordering tickets.
