Farmingdale children learn the importance of giving

A fun local event is making possible for children to give to others and meet Santa at the same time.

For many people, the best part of Christmas is having the opportunity to give to others. The Toys for Tots campaign makes that tradition easier than ever. Novak Motors has made its location available for the popular foundation to gather more gifts for children in need.

All residents are invited to bring a new, unwrapped present of their choice with them, enjoy some cocoa and enter for a chance to win tickets to the Jones Beach Light Show. Gift givers have the opportunity for a free portrait of their child with Santa. This is a pet-friendly event and photos with Santa are also available for pet parents who donate a toy.

Toys for Tots began in 1947 with a handmade doll as its first collected item, and there were over 5,000 toys collected during that initial campaign. In 2016, the charitable organization raised over $280m in toys with the gifts distributed by the organization to approximately seven million children each year. Businesses that would like to host an event or use their marketing services to organize a fundraiser are welcome to contact the organization for more information.

The Farmingdale Toys for Tots event is scheduled for December 16, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. It will be located at Novak Motors at 215 Daniel Street in Farmingdale. There is no fee to attend.
