Firecracker Baseball will be hosting the 2nd Annual Long Island Showcase Classic this October in Farmingdale.
The Long Island Showcase Classic is a two-day sporting event where youth baseball teams compete in a tournament. There will be three different brackets for the competition, including 13U/14U, 15U/16U, and 17U/18U. The game had 18 teams compete last year, though it is anticipated that over 25 teams will be participating in the tourney this year. Sporting events like this can advertise the competition to local athletes by using poster printing.
Firecracker Baseball is an organization founded by Mark Cooke in 2008. Cooke works at Johnson Wales University as an assistant baseball coach. The goal of the sports group is to provide top amateur baseball to the community by organizing events like the Firecracker Baseball 4th of July Classic. Each event hosted by the group uses a pool play format to ensure that all teams get an opportunity to play at least three to four games. Firecracker Baseball also contacts scouts from local colleges to help student athletes gain exposure.
The baseball competition will be held on Saturday, October 3 and Sunday, October 4. The playoffs and championships for the event will occur on Sunday at a site that will be announced at a later point. The tournament will have a three-game guarantee so long as weather conditions are favorable.
