Farmingdale arts group to host botanical workshops

The Farmingdale Village Cultural Arts Committee is partnering with award-winning chrysanthemum and bonsai expert John Capobianco to host two interactive workshops this summer.

Growing Exhibition Mums, the Queen of Fall Flowers is a two-part series offered in partnership with the Long Island Chrysanthemum Society. It is designed for beginners, and plants, soil, and pots will be provided. Participants need to attend both sessions, and they should bring paper and a pen. Bonsai for Beginners is a longer one-day class with a lunch break. The first half will focus on the various styles and techniques, and the second half will be a hands-on lesson on how to create a bonsai. Participants should bring scissors, chopsticks, and a pen. All other materials will be provided.

The registration deadline for both events is June 7. Fees are $25 for the mums series and $50 for the bonsai class, which can be paid by check to the Incorporated Village of Farmingdale. Registration details are available on the Farmingdale Village website. Arts organizations often use flyer printing services to promote their classes and other events.

The Growing Exhibition Mums series will take place on Saturday, June 14 and Saturday, August 16 at 1:00 pm, and the Bonsai for Beginners class will be Saturday, June 21 from 11:00 am to 3:30 pm. Both are at Farmingdale Village Hall.
