The STEM X Festival encourages Long Island families to explore different categories and opportunities within STEM this weekend.
The festival experience is designed to make STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) approachable and accessible to kids who may be interested in the field but unsure where to begin. Attendees can participate in interactive stations in eight different categories, which include robotics, coding, virtual reality, and 3D printing. Families can pick up an experience passport when they arrive at the festival to keep track of the categories they’ve visited. Organizers often use printing services to create materials like event passports.
The festival is free and open to everyone in the area, including residents of Farmingdale and other Long Island towns. Kids must be accompanied by an adult. Those planning to attend should reserve their free tickets on the STEM X website.
Kids of all ages are welcome, but some stations are most appropriate for those eight and older. Stations are built to appeal to all ages, including teens and parents. The event is indoors, and the venue is wheelchair accessible. The organizers are also planning a quieter, sensory-friendly area. In past years, most families stayed at the festival for around two to three hours.
The STEM X Festival will be on Saturday, October 31 and Sunday, November 1, from 10 am to 3 pm, at the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City.
