Clifton Park will mark the bicentennial of the Grand Erie Canal with Canal Fest, a two-day celebration next month.
The festival will be presented by the Town of Clifton Park in partnership with the New York State Canal Corporation and the Erie Canal National Heritage Corridor. Organizations that create and support celebrations such as this often use poster printing to advertise their festival events.
The Erie canal was finished in 1825 and was the first waterway between the Great Lakes and the Atlantic Ocean to be navigable, allowing for more economical movement of people and cargo. The canal is over 350 miles long and runs from the Hudson River to Lake Erie.
Clifton Park will step back in time with activities that pay tribute to the history and importance of the canal. Events will include the dedication of a recognition marker near Amnity Church, a parade, wagon rides, a revolutionary war demonstration, a display of antique automobiles, historic canal exhibits, children’s games, and walking tours of the waterfront district. The festival will close with the presentation of a play called The Remarkable, Irresistible Erie.
Clifton Park Canal Fest will be held on October 11, 2025 from 9:30 am to 4 pm and October 12, 2025 from noon to 4 pm. Further information, including a schedule of events, is available on the Town of Clifton Park website.
