Wildlife photography featured in Carson City art show
Wildlife captured in its natural settings is the focus of an art show running throughout April in Carson City.
The Capital City Arts Initiative (CCAI) is presenting “Wild,” a collection of work by Heather Nicole and Andrew C. Strom.
According to the artists, their close, intimate photos of nature and animals in climates ranging from polar ice fields to the tropics reveal that the subjects have personality and emotions. Artists who display their works in public galleries often provide business cards to promote sales of their work.
Strom is an award-winning photographer based in Nevada who started taking photos during the 2020 pandemic. He quickly earned accolades for his work, which has been displayed locally and internationally.
His wife Nicole is from Florida and began taking photos as a child, developing a focus on nature. She has won multiple awards for her pictures and stories, including recognition from The Nature Conservancy and Outdoor Photographer magazine.
The CCAI is a non-profit organization that promotes community engagement in the visual arts through knowledge programs, exhibitions, artist residencies, and other activities. It is funded by a number of foundations, endowments, sponsors, and its own members. In its 22nd year, CCAI currently facilitates exhibits in four Carson City galleries and also works with schools and colleges to ensure student art is seen by the public.
Wild will be on display throughout the month of April and through to June 10 at the Courthouse Gallery in Carson City.
