Carson City will hold its yearly “Taste of Downtown” next month. A a mainstay of the city, the event was absent last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Taste of Downtown gives locals a chance to connect with the city’s eateries and sample their offerings. The idea for the event came about in 1995. Formed by the Advocates to End Domestic Violence, the event helps draw attention to new restaurants while contributing to the organization’s charity work.
For this year’s event, there will be over 40 restaurants from the city’s downtown area participating. Guests can try out their food while also enjoying live music and shopping opportunities planned for the day. Events like these often utilize banner printing to help direct guests to restaurants participating. In previous years, participating restaurants also have a chance to win in various categories, including “best taste,” “best beverage,” and the particularly coverted “best overall.”
The event will take place on Saturday, September 11. An updated list of participating restaurants will likely be available once the event date is closer. Live music and shopping opportunities will be available at the West Side Historic District and Kit Carson Trail, respectively. Tickets are $45 and can be bought online from the event’s official website. Anyone who has more questions can call 775-883-7654 or email director@aedv.org.
