A cultural celebration is to be held in Carson City this November.
“Dia de los Muertos” is rooted in Spanish cultural and religious practices. This traditional Mexican holiday pays homage to departed loved ones, and has its origins in Aztec traditions. The occasion features a two-day educational and engagement session. It will showcase altar presentations with accompanying music and traditional treats and refreshments. Community members may also take part in creating the altar.
The event is organized by the Nevada State Museum, in collaboration with Western Nevada College and Visit Carson City. This is an annual event that aims to celebrate the rich culture of their Latin members throughout the state. There will be exhibits that feature traditional crafts, music, and dance over the course of those dates. After the event´s conclusion, the altar exhibition will be accessible to the public during museum hours in the Dema Guinn Concourse, free of charge.
The event is free for museum members and children seventeen years and under. There is a $10 charge for non-members. Sponsorship opportunities are available for patrons.
Poster printing can be a great way to let people know about events such as this one.
The celebration will take place on November 5th and 6th at the Nevada State Museum. The location is 600 North Carson Street, Carson City, Nevada. It begins at 8:30am, ending at 4:30pm.
