Sierra Nevada Ballet plans performance of Giselle

The Sierra Nevada Ballet will perform Giselle next month. The play is appropriate for all ages, and families from Carson City are encouraged to attend the event.

Adapted from Theophile Gautier’s 1841 work, Giselle is a story of betrayal and revenge. It tells of a peasant girl who falls in love with a duke but ultimately dies of heartache. The protagonist then reincarnates as a spirit and protects the duke from vengeful spirits known as the Wilis. For anyone interested in more details, these types of events usually provide more information through brochure printing.

The play’s production is headed by Rosine Bena, a former ballerina who gained fame in the ‘70s and ‘80s for portraying tragic heroines. Accompanying Bena is a large cast of dancers, including Da Young Jung as the titular character and Alejandro Gonzalez as the duke.

Working with the Sierra Nevada Ballet, the Brewery Arts Center will provide the venue for the event. Those planning to attend the play can find the center on 449 W King Street.

The play is set to happen on July 23 between 7:30 PM and 9:00 PM. Anyone looking for tickets or in need of more information can call 775-360-8663. Sierra Nevada will also hold two other performances of Giselle at Reno and Incline on July 17 and 26 respectively.
