A four-week sculptural workshop is scheduled to take place this April in Carson City.
Debbie Corona, a master sculptor, will lead the workshop, and will focus on the hand-building technique used to form relief tiles. Relief tiles have a rich history, going back as far as 4000 BC, and have served functions such as surface coverage and storytelling.
During the workshop, participants will construct a wall hanging comprising of four tiles. Assembly will involve the use of metal rings and a hanging device. Various raised surfaces will be explored during the project, with instruction provided through visual illustrations.
To ensure a comfortable and safe working environment, participants must bring an apron or work attire, as ceramics can be messy to work with. Closed water bottles and closed-toed shoes are also mandatory safety measures. All necessary materials and supplies, excluding attire, will be supplied.
The workshop will span four sessions over four weeks, to involve: building and creating; finish creating; glazing; and pick-up and constructive critique.
Ticket cost $150 and can be bought through the Brewery Arts Center listing.
Brochure printing can be a great way for organizers to provide attendees with instructions at sculpting events like this one.
The workshop will run from every Saturday from 6 – 27 April, starting at 2pm and ending at 5pm each day.
Brewery Arts Center, 449 West King Street, Carson City, Nevada is the venue’s address.
