Pre-Halloween spirits in Carson City

Wild west legends and stories of hauntings and paranormal activities will come alive in Carson's City's October ghost walk.

Guided and themed 90-minute ghost tours are led by Madame Curry, a fictional character created in memory of the widow of Abe Curry, the founder of Carson City. Curry and her costumed assistants lead visitors through the historic west side of the city where homes and businesses are reportedly haunted by lingering spirits from centuries ago. The tours have been running for more than 30 years, highlighting the capital city's colorful past that is both spooky and intriguing.

One of the stops along the tour is the Bliss Mansion, owned in the mid-1800s by a millionaire banker who built it above an Indian burial site. It is reportedly home to more than 35 spirits who roam the mansion, one of which, legend says, pushed a young boy down the stairs to his death in 1980. His family left the home, and in the 1990s, it became a bed and breakfast for those who are brave enough to spend the night among ghosts. Other stops on the walk have equally bone-chilling stories of the paranormal.

The ghost walks take place rain or shine and start at McFadden Plaza in downtown Carson City. Operators of tours such as this often use flyer printing to assist in advertising their events.

Tours are scheduled for October 19, 2024, between 10 am and 3 pm.
