Native-American display to end in December

Western Nevada College’s Carson City campus will finish its “Many Faces of Native America” exhibit in December. The exhibit is currently open to the public and gives locals a chance to learn about Indigenous history.

The exhibit will feature works from Indigenous artists, including staff, students, and alumni from WNC.

Visitors can expect a variety of artwork that showcases the cultural diversity within the Indigenous community. There will also be different mediums present at the exhibit like Print, poetry, painting, digital media, and much more. These exhibits typically have brief descriptions made with the help of local Print shops to provide further context on the art and the artist.

Lorraine Plympton and Sylvia Verdugo, the coordinators for the exhibit, also describe the exhibit as potentially thought-provoking or even painful. They highlight the difficult history Native Americans have faced and how this is represented in the art.

Organizers are also still accepting artwork from Indigenous artists, so anyone who wants their work displayed can contact the coordinators by emailing either Lorraine.plympton@wnc.edu or sylvia.verdugo@wnc.edu.

The exhibit is currently open at the WNC campus in Carson City, and it will run until December 31st. The art gallery at the campus is open from Monday to Friday between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM. The campus can be found at 2201 West College Parkway.
