Hot air balloon festival benefits charity

A hot air balloon festival will draw a large crowd just outside of Carson City in May.

The Hot Air for Hope festival will occur in Gardnerville, slightly south of the state’s capital. At Lampe Park, balloon pilots will gather and take to the skies. The event is free to the public, and features a hot air balloon competition. The competition is a contest aimed at finding the best balloon navigator.

Taking place over a period of two days, the competition requires pilots to use both visual and traditional targets to find their way to the end. Each pilot receives a score based on their performance, and that score can go towards the Nevada State Championship.

Organizers are hoping Carson Valley will make the ideal setting for this event due to the lack of winds. In the morning hours, low winds make for perfect conditions for these types of flights.

Hot Air for Hope benefits the Center for Hope and Healing. For 12 years, the organization has provided assistance to families dealing with grief.

The event is free to the public and will offer activities like balloon rides and meet and greets. There will be food and drinks also available. Spectators of the event can learn more about hot air balloons and how to pilot them. Sponsors at events like this use printing services to create a variety of promotional materials.

The hot air balloon festival will take place on May 17th to May 19th.
