Focus on bees at Carson City conference

The Nevada Bee and Garden conference in Carson City will explore a range of topics related to beekeeping and the importance of protecting pollinators.

The conference will be presented and hosted by the University of Nevada - Reno Extension, in partnership with the US Department of Agriculture Risk Management Agency (RMA).

The RMA will present information on its mission of minimizing risks to producers, small acreage owners and individual home gardeners by protecting local bees and other pollinators.

Informative discussions and instructions specific to supporting the viability of beekeeping will also be presented. Educational topics will include how to get products to market, overwintering of hives, how to deal with the changing regulations regarding apiculture, and the availability of related RMA insurance.

Workshop sessions will also delve into landscape sustainability, climate change, water conservation, and the most recent relevant agricultural practices. The bee conference fee is $75 and includes two days of hands-on workshops with breakfasts and lunches supplied, as well as a pre-conference evening reception and social.

The event offers a variety of sponsorship options to area businesses who may take the opportunity to use printing services for their promotional materials.

The Nevada Bee and Garden conference will be held from March 20 to 22, 2025 at the Carson Valley Inn Casino at 1627 US Highway 395, south of Carson City.
