Knowing how to prepare a press release can be a valuable skill in the business, not-for-profit and public service worlds alike, and a Carson City area workshop will teach the ins and outs of doing so.
The area's business community is welcome to attend a class that will teach them how to craft effective press releases. University of Business Ambassadors is the presenter for the activity, and it will run for one and half hours.
The workshop will explore press releases and why they can still be important marketing tools. Attendees will learn how to prepare ones that grab the reader's attention, and there will be a discussion of how big they should be, whether or not it is a good idea to include photos or other graphics, and also how to choose effective wording for their piece.
This session is one of four that will be on offer throughout the next 12 months, and those who are interested can choose the one that best suits their schedule. Handouts and other learning materials for a workshop will be available from area Print shops.
The date for this introduction to crafting press releases will take place on April 19. It will be repeated on July 20, October 18, and in the new year on January 17. They will be held at the Carson Valley Museum.
