Carson City shows some Mexican spirit

Nevada State Museum, Visit Carson, and Western Nevada College celebrate Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) next month.

The Mexican tradition honors the lives of loved ones who are no longer in the land of the living. Thanks to its global theme of recollection, honor, and love, celebrations are now commonplace across the United States.

Altars are special displays dedicated to departed loved ones and frequently feature objects that held sentimental value to them. This might comprise a photo of the individual, pictures of the things they loved to do, and vibrant yellow flowers. During the occasion, a characteristic Day of the Dead bread is widely presented. Homes, tables, and altars are decorated with sugar skulls and elegant paper cut-outs.

The event will be held over two days. On Friday, November 4, there will be an altar presentation, along with music and authentic refreshments. Saturday, November 5, will feature traditional Mexican music, crafts, and food. Visitors can pay respect to their lost loved ones at the community altar provided by the museum.

Print shops are important to event organizers as they allows them to get printed media, such as Flyers and Banners, in bulk amounts.

The event will be at the Nevada State Museum at 600 North Carson Street in Carson City, Nevada 89701. Admission is $10 for adults and free for children 17 years old and under.
