Carson City will come alive with sound and color at the second annual Murals and Music Festival.
Presented by Visit Carson City, the Nevada Arts Council and Brewery Arts Center, the festival will bring together about two dozen local, national and international artists to paint downtown buildings and public spaces while musicians perform nearby in the streets of the state capital.
Murals and music will also feature artist lectures, interactive art activities for all ages, as well as guided tours of the more than 20 murals that are expected to be completed during the three-day event. The line-up of artists will present a range of styles and themes, from graphic art to cartoons and graffiti, which express their individual cultures and interests.
The Brewery Arts Center will host the final night of music, as part of an annual series of free summer concerts outside at its historic location in Nevada's oldest commercial building. The center is a catalyst for the growth of the local arts scene and actively engages the community in its work toward promoting the city as a cultural destination.
The festival is part of the revitalization of Carson City's downtown and is supported by many local businesses and sponsors who donate to single murals or the event as a whole.
