Carson City music festival goes beyond

The Carson City 2024 music festival, Jazz and Beyond, has been expanded this year to include 10 days of musical entertainment at a variety of venues.

Presented by the Mile High Jazz Band Association (MHJBA), the festival is celebrating its 21st year. MHJBA is a non-profit group created in 2001 to support the local Mile High Jazz Band and The Millennium Bugs, an associated jazz combo group.

It works to promote live jazz performance while educating the public and enriching the community through music. Other groups and organizations such as local schools collaborate with the organization to help it fulfill its goals.

This year's expanded festival will allow fans to enjoy as many as 30 free concerts featuring jazz, ragtime, country, pop, and blues by bands, orchestras, and individual performers.

Opening night will be held at the governor's mansion where the Reno Jazz Orchestra will provide the entertainment and a food truck will be on site offering refreshments. Other festival highlights include a country-themed day at the Silver Saddle Ranch and a celebration of Count Basie's birthday at the downtown McFadden Plaza Stage, featuring the award-winning 18-member hometown Mile High Jazz Band.

Organizations that host festivals such as this often use banner printing to draw attention to featured venues and performances.

Jazz and Beyond will be held from August 16 to 26. Regular updates on confirmed performers, locations, and other details are available on the festival website.
