On Saturday, April 14th, 2012, Michelle Shocked will be performing her Roadwork’s Tour in front of a live audience at the Outpost Performance Space located at 210 Yale St., Southeast in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This performance will begin at 7:30pm.
Although Michelle Johnston at birth in 1962, she has become renowned as Michelle Shocked, a chosen name by the songstress herself, for her political persuasions to deliver her view of social commentary set to music that reflects on her own trouble background and life. Besides exploring the world of western swing, gospel, and folk, she has also ventured into the blues with her strong Texas roots as a feminist.
Michelle's musical career skyrocketed when bootleg recordings where made of her performance around a campfire at the Kerrville Folk Festival in 1986, Consequently the recordings were later released in England to become known as “Texas Campfire Tapes” and hit the top of the independent music charts. From there, Michelle accepted a deal with Mercury Records which combined all her traditional music with here postmodern feminist views, and the rest was history. At times, Michelle will have the audience clapping along, yet at other times the audience will be roaring in their seats as Michelle performs her best loved pieces. Starting in 1996, Michelle has released many independent albums including her most recent “Soul of My Soul”.
