Trail race challenge kicks off in Albuquerque
Albuquerque is welcoming a trail race not for the faint of heart, when the Foothills 10 Mile Run kicks off this November.
Though it is considered a high-difficulty level race, there are scenic areas, mountainous terrain, and an opportunity to get fresh air.
Single-track sections serve as challenges in this event, while the setting in the Sandia Mountains offers a unique perspective of the high desert region located in the Rio Grande Valley.
Runners can expect to traverse through notable landmarks, like the Cibola National Forest and the Elena Gallegos Open Space, in a race that takes participants above 6,500 feet.
Sponsored by the City of Albuquerque and Parnell Law, amenities for the race include specialized long-sleeve running shirts and a heated area to combat the chilly fall air in an elevated setting. There are also two parking spots with complimentary shuttle buses. Free race photos are also provided to participants via Lobo Photo New Mexico.
Local refreshments – including coffee, breakfast burritos, and hand-crafted root beer – will also be available to runners after they cross the finish line. Running events like this may choose to use print shops for making bibs, promotional signs, and informational pamphlets.
The Foothills 10 Mile Run is on Sunday, November 9 at 8:00 am at the Elena Gallegos Picnic Area at Albert G. Simms Park at 7100 Tramway Blvd N.E. in Albuquerque.
