Rock and roll torchbearer comes to Albuquerque

Albuquerque’s Revel venue is hosting a concert by hit-making rocker Jack White this October.

From 1997 to 2011, Jack White was the lead singer and guitarist for the band The White Stripes, with his bandmate Meg White taking on the drumming duo in this indie rock duo.

Praised for its stripped-down sound, garage rock sensibilities and enigmatic-yet-accessible lyrics, the White Stripes grew from a cult classic band to a certified mainstream success with its critically-acclaimed string of albums in the 2000s.

The White Stripes won three Best Alternative Music Album Grammy Awards for 2004’s Elephant, 2006’s Get Behind Me Satan and 2008’s Icky Thump, the latter of which also won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.

While the duo has since disbanded, Jack White has gone on to carve out a successful solo career, which has included several more Grammy wins along the way.

With a more refined sound, Jack continues to incorporate poetic narratives into his lyrics, weaving his signature guitar riffs with more polished production and his distinct falsetto singing voice, all the while driving further into a more blues-infused rock sound.

Jack White is performing on October 4 at 8 pm, with doors open at 7 pm, at the Revel concert venue at 4720 Alexander Blvd Ne in Albuquerque.
