Simple Plan is coming to Albuquerque’s First Financial Credit Union Amphitheater for a concert this August.
Formed in 1999, the group began when several young men got together in a suburb of Montreal. Taking inspiration from punk rock music, the band members reimagined the genre into more upbeat rhythms to set the stage for the pop-punk genre that would dominate the early 2000s.
Now the band, which went from an underground act to certified hit-makers, is also the subject of a new documentary on Prime Video serving as a retrospective of their 25-year career: “Simple Plan: The Kids in the Crowd.”
With five platinum-selling records to their name, as well as several platinum- and gold-certified singles, Simple Plan is ubiquitous not only in Canada but across the globe. On the streaming front, Simply Plan’s monthly Spotify listeners are on par with acts like Paul Simon, DMX and Blur, a testament to their enduring popularity.
Simple Plan’s four current members include guitarists Sebastien Lefebvre, Jeff Stinco, drummer Chuck Comeau and lead singer Pierre Bouvier. The band’s contemporaries include NOFX, Avril Lavigne and blink-182, all of which appear in interviews in the documentary.
