Performing with his outfit Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band, the lineup includes Buck Johnson of Hollywood Vampire and the Joe Perry Project, Steve Lukather and Warren Ham from the band Toto, Hamish Stuart from Average White Band, and Gregg Bissonnette from David Lee Roth’s band and ELO.
The English drummer and singer/songwriter is known for his eclectic style as a solo artist. Though he may have started his career as part of the British Invasion rock movement of the 1960s, recent years have seen him take a musical detour into the country genre. This year, Starr has cooked up a second collaboration with T Bone Burnett to help him trade in his tie-dye wardrobe for a pair of cowboy boots with the new album Long, Long Road.
In a recent interview, commenting on his pivot to putting his vocal talents at the front and center of his music, Starr said:
“I’d love to be Ray Charles, but my voice works for country.”
