Animated adventure screens in Albuquerque

The 1973 Disney animated film Robin Hood is playing at the International District Library in Albuquerque this February.

As part of the library’s Sunday Family Movies series, Robin Hood chronicles the adventures of the most beloved outlaw of Sherwood Forest, known for taking from the rich and giving to the poor.

Each character is portrayed by a different kind of animal, with the bow-and-arrow-wielding Robin Hood as a fox. He and Little John, a bear, stay one step ahead of the money-hungry prince, a lion, to help the peasant-folk.

The film is directed by Wolfgang Reitherman and David Hand and stars Brian Bedford, Phil Harris, Monica Evans, and Peter Ustinov. In addition, Robin Hood was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song for the song “Love,” with the soundtrack also receiving a Grammy Nomination for Best Recording for Children.

Robin Hood is known for its cost-effective animation style, as there are several dancing scenes that reuse the character movements of previous Disney movies, including Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, The Aristocrats, and The Jungle Book.

Movie screenings like this may choose to use banner printing to create marquees or venue Signs.

Robin Hood is playing on Sunday, February 1 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the Community Meeting Room of the International District Library at 7601 Central Ave NE in Albuquerque.
