New Mexico sends relief payments to families

New Mexico is sending out payments as part of a new rebate program. Eligible parties in cities such as Albuquerque will be able to collect up to $1,500 for 2022.

The rebate was made possible by a law passed earlier this year. The law was created with the goal of giving families stimulus rebates to help them deal with high inflation rates. In order to be eligible for the rebate, residents will have to have filed their tax returns for 2021 and have an income below a certain level.

A press release from Stephanie Clark, the Secretary of Taxation and Revenue, stated that the department was “working as quickly as possible” to get relief payments and rebates over to local people.

The rebates were sent in three different payments, with the final payment being made in August. Single filers who have incomes of $75,000 could be sent up to three sets of payments worth $250 each. Joint filers who have a combined income of up to $150,000 could get three sets of payments worth $500 each. Payments sent from the government probably had an official letterhead on them.

This follows another recent relief payment program in which individuals were eligible for $500 payments and families were given up to $1,000. The payments for this program were sent on July 4.
