New jobs coming to Albuquerque

In a recent announcement, the Governor of New Mexico revealed some information that could create jobs and bring a boost to the economy of Albuquerque and the surrounding areas.

Governor Susan Martinez revealed

to the public that Mako Medical Laboratories plans on partnering with Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute in setting up shop in the city. This will be the first time it has chosen a location in the western portion of the USA. Its home base is in Raleigh, North Carolina, and according to the company, it feels that choosing Albuquerque will allow it to be provide the best service possible to its customers in the west.

Mako performs medical lab services for physicians and other medical professionals from all over the country. It is anticipated that the decision to choose Albuquerque will result in as many as 100 local jobs being created in a variety of fields, including administrative staff, laboratory technicians and also positions for those in the field of marketing and sales. It could also result in spin-off benefits for other businesses, such as those that provide printing services such business card printing, graphic design, catalog printing and more.

In order to help fund the construction and set up of the new facility, a grant was given to the company from the state’s Local Development Act fund that totaled $150,000.
