New business owner creates purr-fect idea for Albuquerque

Cat lovers in Albuquerque will soon have a place to enjoy spending time with their friends, both human and feline.

Proprietress Julia Grueskin has been searching for some time now to find a suitable location for her cat café, and she is pleased to report that she has found one.

Grueskin has arranged to lease space at 412 and 414 Central SE, and she plans on opening her new business Gatos y Galletas sometime in the near future. Her vision for the enterprise involves providing a place where cats rescued by a shelter and humans can both mingle, while the people enjoy a drink and even a vegetarian bite to eat. A printer will be able to assist in Logo Design for the new restaurant.

Grueskin noted that she feels the idea will appeal to a lot of people, especially those who love cats but are not able to have one due to restrictions in their lease, or because people they reside with may not like them. Her business will allow them an opportunity to be around the animals they love while they work, socialize, or just relax.

This type of establishment has been a hit in Japan, but this will be the first of its kind in Albuquerque. A representative from the city’s health department noted that so long as she follows certain rules in the Food Code, having animals in the café will not be a problem.
