The offer, which was open to anyone who walked in, resulted in the Lindy’s Diner sharing hundreds of free meals as people flocked there all day. Banner printing can be used to share information about special offers like this.
The diner started giving back to the community in this manner in honor of a family matron who passed away. In order to have enough staff to feed all the people, the diner got some help from athletes studying at UNM. Tavin Combs, a football player at UNM, said:
“It means a lot to me just because there’s a lot of people who have been through a lot and especially with the pandemic there’s a lot of things going on so being able to come out and feed the less fortunate is really beneficial and supportive.”
Sharing the joy on Thanksgiving in this manner has become a tradition for Lindy’s Diner. The operators have been giving out free meals on Thanksgiving for almost 10 years now. They serve up a classic Thanksgiving plate, and the diner was at capacity for most of Thanksgiving morning and afternoon. According to a family member who helps out at Lindy’s, the program was originally just for the homeless but they decided to open it up to everyone.
